On-Going ...

RCT offers a series of on-going programs at local schools:

Coming to your school: Cooking It!

aCooking It! is an original musical play designed to facilitate healthy eating and address childhood obesity.
After a week long residency in an elementary school, actors from RCT and 4th grade, students will perform for the rest of the school.
Puppets, music, dance and fun are all entwined to teach youth that healthy eating can be as delicious as fast foods, sugary snacks and soda. Join "Brock Broccoli," "Brussel Sprout" and "Refined Sugar" as they engage your students in this unique participatory approach to a healthier school. Call (540) 309-6802 to bring Cooking It to your school. Cooking It is made possible by the support of Lewis Gale Hospital and Kroger Foods.

"Thanks so much for the opportunity for our school to participate with COOKING IT. What a great learning experience for our 5th grade students as well as PK-4th grades. We received many positive comments about the Friday performance. One of the lunch ladies mentioned an increase in the number of students choosing broccoli for lunch on Friday. It was a wonderful opprtunity. We'd love to do it again. It would be neat for students in the lower grades to have this same opportunity when they reach 5th grade." Susan Brown, Principal, Herman L. Horn Elementary

At Fallon Park Elem. School and Hurt Park Elementary School and Westside Elementary School, theatre games and story improvisations are used to bridge many different cultures and explore diversity.

At Cave Spring Elem. School the art of theatre is a component of a vibrant after-school enrichment program.

If you would like to sign up your school or class let us know. We are always happy to help out.
